Case Study: Lower Rocky River Wetland Mitigation, Siler City, NC

Due to the encroachment on existing wetlands by the construction of a new 160-acre reservoir, Carolina Environmental Contracting was contracted to construct 16 acres of replacement wetlands. This work consisted of site erosion control items including skimmer basins, silt fence, diversion channels and ditches, as well as seeding and matting.

The Siler City, NC, wetland mitigation project also required moving approximately 120,000 cubic yards of dirt and rock to obtain the desired elevation of the proposed wetlands. Upon completion Carolina Environmental Contracting installed over 1900 lf. of channel that will serve as a relief port for the influx of runoff during rain events.
